Criminals selling counterfeit wine stopped in their tracks

In a joint operation, French and Italian authorities, supported by Eurojust and Europol, dismantled an international criminal group involved in selling counterfeit French wine. Seven suspects were arrested, and authorities seized cash, luxury items, and key documents. The group had been producing fake versions of high-end French red wines, valued at up to €15,000 per bottle, by recreating authentic-looking corks and labels with Italian printing houses. The counterfeit wines were exported globally, generating over €2 million in profits. The operation led to raids in Paris, Milan, and Turin, with extensive evidence collected, including €77,000 in France and €40,000 in Italy.
